Three may be a crowd, but not when they’re this cute! Head to Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium this Friday, April 22, to catch the debut of three endangered clouded leopard cubs! The tiny trio was born March 30th to mama Sang Dao and papa Tien, and can be found in the Cub Den at the Cats of the Canopy exhibit. Watch these 3-week-old cuties as zoo keepers feed and care for them at 10 am and 1:30 pm daily. (Keep in mind- just like any newborn, leopard babies can have wacky schedules, so check the zoo’s Facebook page or website for updates on the cubs’ viewing hours.)
First-time parents Sang Dao and Tien are getting a lot of help from the zookeepers, who are dedicated to hand-rearing the cubs with 24/7 care to ensure they grow up healthy and thriving.
There are only 93 clouded leopards left in 25 North American zoos, and 12 of those are at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.
Help name these sweet siblings by going to https://www.pdza.org/clouded-leopard-cubs/ and choose from the proposed names inspired by Asian herbs and spices: Cassia or Saffron for the female cub and Basil, Coriander (“Cori”), Chili or Masala for the two male cubs.
