5 Halloween 2018 fun runs for Seattle-area families

Ah Halloween, the time of costumes, gloom, sugary treats and … physical fitness? For some reason (adults need more excuses to wear costumes?), Halloween is one of the busiest times of year for fun runs. Here are some great, family-oriented ones.

Saturday, October 27

West Seattle Monster Dash

Lincoln Park, near south parking lot

Fundraiser for: South Seattle College Cooperative Preschools

Time: 5K run 9:30 a.m.

Cost: $40-$45 adult registration, $25 elementary students, $10 kids dash participants

At 10:30 a.m. there’s a 100-yard dash for kids 6 and younger, followed at 10:40 a.m. by a quarter-mile kids’ dash for kids 10 and younger. Cost for the dashes is $10.

Strollers allowed? Yes

 

Magnuson Halloween Run

Magnuson Park

Time: 10 a.m. start for 5K, 10K and 15K.

Cost: $22 for the 5K, $27 for the 10K, $32 for the 15K.

Kids 400-yard dash at 9:45 a.m. Cost $3.

Strollers allowed? Yes

 

Bellevue Monster Dash 5K and Lil’ Frankenstein 1K

Shoes-n-Feet, 15015 Main St #102, Bellevue

Fundraiser for: Seattle Humane Society

Time: 8 a.m. race-number pickup, 8:45 a.m. kids 1K race start,  9:15 a.m. 5K race start.

Cost $30-$35, $10-$15 for kids’ dash

1K kids’ race, starting at 8:45 a.m.

Strollers allowed? Yes

 

Sunday, October 28

Run Scared

Seward Park

Fundraiser for: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Time: 7:30 a.m. registration opens, 9:15 a.m. costume contest, 9:45 a.m. 10K starts, 10 a.m. 5K and 4K Start.

Cost: 10 K $50-$55, $25 for 18 and under, 5K and 4K $40-$45, $15 for 18 and under.

Before the race, at 8 a.m., there is a Halloween treasure hunt, and then a free kids’ dash at 9 a.m.

Strollers allowed? Yes

 

Captain Jack’s Treasure Run

Redmond Municipal Campus

Time: 9:30 a.m. for 8K, 9:40 a.m. for 5K

Cost: $50 for 8K, $46 for 5K

Kids’ race 9:20 a.m., $10. Pirate costumes encouraged.

Strollers allowed? No
