After more than 13,000 votes, a video has emerged victorious in Verity Credit Union’s “Cartwheel for a Cause” contest. The competition received 37 submissions from hopeful Washingtonians, each with their own unique charity they felt deserved $5,000.
Verity Credit Union held a press conference this week to announce the top three winners: Julie Shevlin, Tracy Kudrna and Tom Stritikus. Shevlin, the first place winner, submitted her video entry for Cure JM (Juvenile Myositis, a potentially fatal autoimmune disease affecting about 5,000 American children). For receiving the most votes, Shevlin will receive $5,000 for her cause and $1,000 in cash for her submission.
The second and third place winners each receive $1,000 for their cause and $200 cash for their efforts. These honors were awarded to Kudrna, whose video was submitted for The 3 Day, and Stritikus, whose video was created for the Haring Center in the University of Washington’s Experimental Education Unit.
The staff at Verity was so touched by the submissions that it will be making a donation of $200 to each cause that was represented in the contest. To watch the videos, visit www.veritymom.com/cartwheel-for-a-cause.
