Your pet is the cutest. You know it. She knows it. Seattle Animal Shelter invites you to let all of Seattle know it by sending a photo of Fido to its “Picture Pawfect” fundraising contest, which ends Sept. 30.
Have a pic of your pet doing something funny? Cute? Regal? Or is simply his mug so divine it needn’t do more than look at your camera to be a winner? That’s the photo to send.
Invite your kids to take photos too, but be sure you upload them to the contest site, parents.
The contest is really just a cover for raising funds for the shelter, which enforces city animal ordinances and cares for lost, abandoned, or abused animals. Located in the Interbay neighborhood, Seattle Animal Shelter is a central site for pet adoptions, city pet licensing, and low-cost spay-and-neuter services. But if your perfect pet was adopted from the facility, wouldn’t winning the big prize be even sweeter?
How to enter and vote
To become part of the competition, upload your pet’s photo on the contest website and make a $5 entry donation. Then encourage all our friends (who don’t enter the contest with their own pets) to go to the pet gallery and vote by making a $1 donation per vote. When you plunk down your $5 entry, five votes are automatically assigned to your pet.
The prize
The top two vote-getters by the contest’s Sept. 30 end will be riding around Seattle for all to see. That’s because their images will be featured on the Seattle Animal Shelter’s outreach van for a whole year. You’ve probably seen it out and about at monthly pet clinics and other community events.
The shelter’s fundraising goal is $5,000. As of Aug. 21, they were nearly halfway there. Money raised by the contest will be used for shelter services.

While you’re at it, send us that picture!
Here at Seattle’s Child, we sometimes do features on family pets. We’d love to receive a copy of the image you send into the contest. Tell us your pet’s name, how long they’ve been with your family, who cares for them, and why you think they are the perfect pet. Email photos to [email protected]
