Ropes Challenge Course Coming to Camp Long: Seattle Parks and Recreation to Hold Community Meeting

Seattle Parks and Recreation is hosting a public meeting for the community to learn about the new ropes course coming to Camp Long. The meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Camp Long, located at 5200 35th Ave S.W. in West Seattle.

Last year, Seattle Parks and Recreation and Washington State University 4-H entered into a memorandum of understanding to bring a ropes challenge course to Camp Long. They are moving forward with implementing this agreement and plan on breaking ground in spring 2011.

There will be several elements of the ropes course that will be integrated into the forested areas of Camp Long and will provide an integral part of the developed curriculum. WSU 4–H has created student-focused curricula that use activities to strengthen critical life skills. The ropes course will also be open to the public through a course offered via Seattle Parks and Recreation with qualified instructors.
