Kids’ Trek at Northwest Trek Re-Opening

Sat Oct 3 Northwest Trek, Included with admission to the park.

Kids’ Trek, the park’s nature-inspired playground, has reopened with extra safety precautions in place for a fun and healthy experience. High- touch areas will be closed for now but kids can still slide, hang like a spider in a rope net, climb down a “tree trunk” and walk a rope bridge to hide inside a giant tree stump. The jumping mat, bridges ladders and nets will also all be open. More on that here.

 

GeekGirlCon Week 1: Science & Tech (Virtual)

Sat/Sun Oct 3 and 4 1-3:30 p.m. FREE

Celebrate the female geek at the first-ever virtual GeekGirlCon with this week’s theme of Science & Technology. The program for the weekend includes: Day of DIY Science, Fantastic Beasts and How to Save Them, and Geek Pride as an Antidote to Bias in STEM. See website for link to live programs on Twitch. Seattle Aquarium Live Seal Feedings (Virtual)

Sat, Oct 3 3-3:30 p.m.  FREE

This event is guaranteed to lower your blood pressure and make you giggle. Join Seattle Aquarium as staff feed the delightful harbor seals, Barney, Q, and Hogan, on site! Feeding times may vary by 20 minutes and are approximately at 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. every day.

 

 

Social Justice Film Festival (Virtual)

Sat/Sun Oct 3 and 4. Pay what you can.

Join filmmakers, film lovers, and activists around the world to celebrate the mission of social justice in film, for the 9th Social Justice Film Festival, screening virtually now through October 11. Each block is priced on a sliding scale from $5-25. Please pay what you can. And, as always, check content advisories for each film before showing to children.

 

Seattle Center Festal: Croatiafest (Virtual)

Sun, Oct 4th FREE

Seattle Center Festál presents CroatiaFest. Held annually on the first Sunday of October, this festival presents Croatian culture through music and dance performances, museum quality exhibits, Croatian gifts and merchandise, and cooking demonstrations of traditional foods by Croatian chefs.
