Families of students who will start kindergarten in fall 2012 are invited to attend one of a series of Kindergarten Transition Nights sponsored by Seattle Public Schools and the City of Seattle's Human Services Department. These events kick off Tuesday, Nov. 10, and run through Jan. 26.
At each event, Seattle Public Schools enrollment facilitators will be accepting early enrollment forms for next year's kindergarteners as well as students who will be new to their school in fall 2012. Kindergarten teachers will also hold open houses in their classrooms, and families will have a chance to meet with school principals and family support workers to learn about community resources.
Kindergarten Transition Nights are open to families from any school in the district regardless of the school of attendance (future or current). Early enrollment is offered through Jan. 31. More information is available at https://bit.ly/Service-Center-Outreach.
All Kindergarten Transition Nights take place between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Childcare for children who are at least 3 years old will be provided. Interpretation services are available on request. The schedule of events is as follows:
- Nov. 10: Northgate Elementary School (11725 1st Ave. N.E.)
- Nov. 15: Highland Park Elementary School (1012 S.W. Trenton St.)
- Dec. 7: Olympic Hills Elementary School (13018 20th Ave. N.E.)
- Jan. 10: Leschi Elementary School (135 32nd Ave.)
- Jan. 24: South Shore PreK-8 School (4800 S. Henderson St.)
- Jan. 26: Bailey Gatzert Elementary (1301 E. Yesler Way)
Children must be 5 years old by Aug. 31 of the year they plan to begin kindergarten, and parents must provide the following documentation: Certificate of immunization status, photo ID of the parent/guardian registering the student, address verification documents and a birth certificate (or similar document such as a passport).
