New Beacon Hill Skatepark Opens

Seattle Parks and Recreation has announced the opening of the Jefferson Park Skatepark at 3801 Beacon Ave. S, located just behind the Jefferson Park Community Center. Seattle Parks removed the construction fencing from around the park on Thursday, Jan. 12.

The new park features the deepest bowl in Seattle, with shallower bowls alongside, a hexagonal elevated dish, great street features and lighting. The skatepark also features one of the best views of Seattle.

Grindline Skateparks Inc., in collaboration with The Berger Partnership, developed the park design with community input. The construction contract was awarded to T. F. Sahli Construction. The Parks and Green Spaces Levy funded the planning, design and construction of the skatepark. SubPop Records provided additional funding.

The Jefferson Skatepark was identified in the Citywide Skatepark Plan, which identifies a network of safe, legal places throughout the city for people to enjoy skating. To learn more about the plan, visit www.seattle.gov/parks/projects/skatepark.htm.
