Knitters: Click Your Needles Together for Babies

If you are a knitter, click your knitting needles together in September to create knitted or crocheted caps (at least 50 percent purple in color and using any newborn baby cap pattern) to support the Period of PURPLE program, started by the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome to help prevent infant abuse.

The caps will be handed out to parents of newborns in November and December to educate parents about the normal, but frustrating period of increased, inconsolable crying that all babies go through starting at two weeks after birth and lasting through the first few months.

Send your purple baby caps by Oct. 1 to Seattle Children’s, c/o Click for Babies/M2-10, 4800 Sand Point Way N.E., Seattle WA 98105. For patterns and caps and more information about this initiative, call 206-987-3400 or visit www.clickforbabies.org.
