Valentine's Day is T-2 and counting. In our house, that means my son is getting a charley horse writing his name on two dozen cards for classmates. If you don't want to cut out all of those paper hearts, boxed valentines are half off in most stores now. Or if you're in a DIY mood, there's time to loop pink and red construction paper for garland, melt old pieces of crayon in shaped silicone trays to make new heart crayons, and toss conversation hearts in a craft bag with your kid's drawings on the outside to pass out to neighbors.
If you're ready to get out of the house today, fun, free options include Mighty Mites Valentine Fun for kids 5 and under from 10 am to noon at Miller Community Center. Also in Capitol Hill, check out free First Thursday at Seattle Asian Art Museum and swing by the Capitol Hill library branch, now open after a remodel.
