Wintergrass gets strumming; Kate DiCamillo at Central Library

As today's weather affirms, we're not out of the woods yet. It may still officially be winter, but music helps. Wintergrass, the annual bluegrass fest, kicks off this evening at Bellevue's Hyatt Regency. Right this way to info about kids' workshops and jams, dances and more. Children 11 and younger are free.

The wonderful children's fiction author Kate DiCamillo talks about her work and the writing life at Central Library at 6 p.m. this evening. The Newbery Award-winning author of books including the Mercy Watson series and Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures (she's also this year's National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature) writes two pages a day, five days each week. Which is inspiring to anyone with young kids who wants to write but barely has time to take a shower.
