The bad news: It's Monday. The very good news: It's Monday, March 9. Otherwise known as National Meatball Day. Celebrate by making your own with the kids (or buying a bag of soy-based balls if you're vegetarian or observing meatless Monday.) If you're out and about, order meatballs covered in red sauce during the family-friendly happy hour at Tutta Bella and raise your forks to salute the mighty meatball.

In other news, children up to age 5 can do hands-on art and crafts from 11-12:30 pm today at Neighborhood House High Point Family Resource Center. The free event runs until 12:30 pm. Tonight from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, kids can practice reading with certified therapy dogs at the Northgate branch of the Seattle Public Library.
