When the Girl Scouts of Western Washington received a massive donation – $100,000! – earlier this year, they were overjoyed. But the donor noted specifically that the money not be used to support transgender girls, and asked that it be returned unless the council guaranteed that it wouldn't be. So the Girl Scouts of Western Washington gave the money back.
The council’s CEO Megan Ferland told Seattle Met that “Girl Scouts is for every girl." And, she noted, "every girl should have the opportunity to be a Girl Scout if she wants to.”
Thanks to the generosity of almost 6,000 donors, the Girl Scouts of Western Washington have managed to raise over $250,000 in just two days through an Indiegogo campaign – more than twice the amount of the original donor’s gift.
