Wallingford Family Parade, free skateboarding lessons, and an outdoor theater festival are just some of the festivities that await Seattle families this weekend.

 

Wallingford Family Parade, Sat July 9, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Marching bands, drill teams, the Seafair Clowns and… you? Dress up and join the Wallingford Family Parade, or watch the fun from the sidewalk and catch treats tossed by parade participants. It’s the longest running Seafair Parade and a fun, free way to spend an afternoon. Be sure to stay afterwards for a hide & seek for prizes with Wallingford merchants on 45th. (Wallingford). Arlington Fly-In, Fri/Sat July 8-9, 8 a.m. -8 p.m. Arlington Airport.

Head North for a fantastic Air show with all sizes and types of flying machines, on display and in the air. Wander the vendors, enjoy the entertainment and stay for the outdoor movie. $15, free ages 15 and younger. Arlington Fly-In. Arlingtonflyin.org

 

Free Skateboarding Lessons, Sat July 9, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Seattle Center Skate Park. FREE

Skate Like a Girl will be teaching kids ages 12 and younger, the skateboarding ropes this weekend at the Seattle Center. Space is limited and classes are first come, first served. BYO gear. Family Wetland Walk: Dragonflies, the Tigers of the Sky, Sat, July 9, 10-11:30 a.m. Magnuson Central Wetlands Complex (meet in parking lot E5)

23 species of dragonflies and damselflies live in the Magnuson Park wetlands. That’s the most in the Puget Sound area! Join a guide this weekend for a chance to spot nymphs in the ponds, newbies on the cattails and fully-grown adults in the sky. Try your luck at Dragonfly Bingo, take part in pond water sampling, a Dragonfly Hunt game, and other hands-on activities for all ages. Binoculars and other supplies provide. $3 per person. National Parkour Championships, Sat July 9, 12-6 p.m. FREE. The Hot Spot on Alaskan Way

Watch experts defy gravity as they jump, climb and balance to get around obstacles. Parental alert: your kids will want to try this at home. National Parkour Championships.
