Kirkland Kids’ Triathlon, Sat Sept 10, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Juanita Beach Park. Come try this fun, non-competitive introduction to triathlons for kids ages 3 to 12. Be sure to bring your swimsuit and goggles for a 50-yard swim/splash, your bike and helmet for a 1/2-mile bike, and a pair of tennis shoes for a 400-yard run. 10 a.m. check-in, 11 a.m. start. $32, pre-register. Arts-A-Glow Lantern Festival, Sat Sep 10, 5-10 p.m. Dottie Harper Park. FREE. Don a costume and bring a lantern, or make one there during this fun night in the forest. Lantern making session starts at 5 p.m., then enjoy a lantern procession at dusk, and face painting, live music, dancing, trapeze and circus art performers, food trucks and more in between.
