5th Annual Edible Book Festival Apt Apr 1, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Lake Forest Park Towne Center FREE
Join this part literary, part culinary competition of clever puns and tasty treats. The art exhibition will feature “books,” made out of food but inspired by a book title or characters in a book. Come explore the entries, then taste the mouthwatering manuscripts, or create your own novel entry to be judged. Entries will be judged in two age brackets: Adult & K-12. Be sure to register your entry by March 30th

Whirligig! Fri Mar 31-Sun Apr 16, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Seattle Center Armory
Whirligig is back just in time for Spring Break! Enjoy a plethora of inflatable rides and bouncy houses at the Seattle Center, plus balloon artists, face painters, live entertainment and more. There’s even a special inflatables area just for toddlers. Ages 12 and younger. $8 all-day pass, $4.50 toddler area all-day pass, $1.50 single ride ticket. Free on Thursdays (but prepare for crowds!). 

Pratt Spring Open House Sat Apr 1, 6-9 p.m. Pratt Fine Arts Center FREE
Be awed and inspired at this annual arts event. Come watch live art demonstrations in all studios including glassblowing, forging and a molten bronze pour, and enjoy live jazz from the Jackson Street Jazz Walk.  Food and drinks, and hands-on activities for kids, round out the evening.

Autism Awareness & Sensory Day Sun Apr 2 8-10 a.m. Museum of Flight FREE
In recognition of World Autism Awareness Day, children with autism and their families are invited to visit the Museum of Flight for an early opening in a sensory-friendly environment. They can explore exhibits with adjusted lighting and sound,  take part in a special hands-on family activity, and enjoy 10% off purchases in the Museum Store. Free admission offered to children with autism and their families from 8 a.m.-10 a.m.

Vegfest Sat Apr 1/Sun Apr 2 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Seattle Center Exhibition Hall
Head to the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall for this unique vegetarian food festival featuring hundreds of foods to sample, amazing cooking demonstrations, helpful health information, vendors, engaging kids' entertainment and lots more. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 1-2. $9 (cash or check), free ages 12 and younger.

Free Family Weekend Walk Sat Apr 1 1-2:30 pm Washington Park Arboretum FREE
Dress for the weather and join a park naturalist for a fun, 90-minute walk thru Washington Park Arboretum. This Saturday, explore the flowers of spring using tools and activities guaranteed to engage kids and their families.
