Pokémon fans everywhere are invited to attend the 2017 Pokémon Regional Championships. Competitors will vie for the coveted title of Pokémon Regional Champion, $50,000 in prize money, scholarships, and travel certificates, as well as championship points. $30 to compete, free to attend.
Northwest Folklife Festival Fri May 26-Sun May 28, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Come catch some of the 800 acts across 25 stages happening this weekend at the Seattle Center. There will also be participatory dances, workshops, crafts, food and more. Be sure to stop by the Discovery Zone for kids on Next 50 Plaza for fun events around the world including Dia de Muertos paper flower making, Polish wreath making & paper cutting, Asian Pacific Islander Lei Making and more. Suggested donation $10 per day, $20 per family.

Head out to Theatre 47 in Magnuson for a musical production by Broadway Bound actors. Their young cast is bringing all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters to life on stage, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. Kids will love the songs, colorful sets and costumes. $13.50-$17.50.

Every Sunday, the Center for Wooden Boats offers free 45-minute rides on Lake Union. Come set sail on one of the beautiful, classic wooden boats from South Lake Union. Be sure to come early to sign up for a slot in person. Space is limited.

BYO lawn chair, blanket and picnic and come enjoy a free outdoor concert at one of the most popular and picturesque tourist spots in Seattle. This Sunday it’s the music of the Boeing Employees Concert Band. Concerts run various dates through September 21 and this year they are celebrating the centennial of the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks.
Memorial Day Weekend Run Sat May 27, 9:45 a.m. Magnuson Park
Get out and get moving at the Magnuson Series fun run celebrating Memorial Day this weekend. Run options include a 5K, 10K, 15K and a Kids Dash. Strollers are permitted on the course, but know that it is all-terrain. $3-$29.
