Froggy Fun Run: Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center 1K Family Fun Run Sat Jun 3, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Montlake CC
It’s the 7th year of this fun 1K family dash. It’s an event that combines outdoor family fun with free food, information, face painting, frog hats, and ASL storytime. Come support early learning services for children with communication challenges. 10 a.m. check-in, 10:15 a.m. ASL story time, 10:30 a.m. 1K fun run, 11:15 a.m. prize drawing. $10 to $15.
Art on the Fly Sat June 3, 12-3 p.m. Denny Park. FREE
It’s a great afternoon of events intertwining dance and the urban canvas with live performances, interactive events and free dance classes open to everyone. There will also be a variety of vendors and a super South Lake Union market.
Salish Sea Native American Cultural Celebration Sat June 3, 12-4 p.m.
Head north to Deception Pass State Park for a fun day celebrating Native American maritime culture with the Samish and Swinomish tribes. Festivities include storytelling, singing, drumming, crafts (cedar weaving and wood carving), traditional smoked salmon plate lunches for sale, and free canoe rides. The Discover Pass is not required to attend this event.
Swedish Pancakes & Dancing Sun June 4, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Swedish Club
Every first Sunday of the month (with the exception of July and September) the Swedish Club serves up authentic Swedish pancakes! Come taste the difference, then stay for a fun morning of music and folk dancing, not to mention an incredible view of Lake Union. $9, $5 ages 5 to 12, free ages 4 and younger.
Japanese Tea Ceremony Presentation Sun June 4, 1 & 2 p.m. Seattle Japanese Garden
Kids 8 and older and their families will enjoy a 40-minute authentic tea presentation inside the Shoseian Teahouse at the Japanese Garden. Visitors will be seated on tatami mats – please avoid jeans, bare feet, rings and personal fragrances. Pre-registration required. $10, $7 youth.
Dozer Days Sun June 4, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. WA State Fair and Events Center, Puyallup
Know someone obsessed with construction equipment? Kids (and even adults) can operate bulldozers, excavators and other heavy machinery with a professional by their side at the Washington State Fair grounds, plus enjoy games, construction toys and other activities. $10, $8 seniors and ages 2 to 12, $5 parking (cash only).
