One million plastic straws will be eliminated from Seattle in September. It’s all part of a campaign lead by HBO star Adrian Grenier, and his nonprofit organization Lonely Whale Foundation. More than 100 local restaurants are participating in what’s being called “Strawless in Seattle” (#StopSucking).
Participating restaurants in Seattle are swapping out all plastic straws for sustainable alternatives to support the radical reduction of plastic straw consumption in the city. Aardvark’s campaign branded paper straws will be seen all over Seattle, and are 100% marine biodegradable so they won’t end up polluting our oceans.
We use 500 million plastic straws every day in the U.S. Many of those plastic straws end up in our oceans, polluting the water and harming sea life. If we don’t act now, by 2050 plastics in the ocean will outweigh the fish. One small change can have a big impact.Get in on the action! For more information, visit www.strawlessocean.org/seattle.
The Lonely Whale Foundation is partnering with the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, and the Seattle Aquarium.
