Cartoons, killer whales, pinhole cameras, and more this weekend!

 

Egg Hunts Galore Sat Mar 31, 10 a.m. Ballard Community Center. FREE

​Kids ages 10 and younger can bring a bag or basket and hop into a hunt for eggs this weekend. Hunts begin at various times, so be sure to check the website for details. Egg hunt hosts include many community centers like Ballard, Bitter Lake, Green Lake, Haller Lake, Jefferson, Loyal Heights, Magnolia, Montlake, Nathan Hale, Queen Anne, Rainier, Van Asselt and more

 

Westcrest Park Forest Restoration Sat Mar 31, 10 a.m.-noon Westcrest Park. FREE

Dress for the weather and yard work (closed-toed shoes, long sleeves, long pants) and join DIRT Corps to help revitalize Westcrest Park by removing overgrown Himalayan blackberries. BYO water and lunch.

DIRT Corps will provide coffee and light refreshments. Park in the south parking lot of Westcrest Park, entrance to park off SW Henderson St.

 

Saturday Morning Cartoons Sat Mar 31, 11 a.m. SIFF Cinema Uptown

Enjoy a perfect Saturday morning at the SIFF Cinema Uptown with a selection of family friendly cartoons from around the world. Coffee and Mighty-O donuts available for purchase. Be sure to stick around for a post-show discussion. $10.

 

Maker Day: Pinhole Cameras Sat Mar 31, 12-3 p.m. MOHAI

Calling all budding photographers. Come learn the amazing history of pinhole cameras, then make your own to take home and use. Yes, they really work! Ages 14 and younger are free with an accompanying adult.  $19.95, $15.95 seniors, $13.95 military and students.

 

Killer Whale Tales Sat Mar 31, 1-3 p.m. Optimism Brewery. FREE

Join Killer Whale Tales, a Seattle-based environmental education non-profit, at Optimism Brewery this Saturday for a fun program about the killer whales that live in our very own Puget Sound. Learn about what we can do to protect them and their ecosystem. Free light snack and non-alcoholic refreshments. Great for all ages – children and dogs are welcome at Optimism Brewing Company.

 

Ballard Locks Free Tour Sat Mar 31, 2-3 p.m. Hiram M. Chittenden Locks. FREE

Meet at the Hiram M. Chittenden Visitor Center Thursdays thru Mondays for free Public Scheduled Walking Tours of the Ballard Locks. Learn about the history of the locks and the wildlife and people that use it. Tours last for about an hour. For groups larger than 10, contact the visitor center before arrival.
