A couple of great family hikes, a chance to make music and — of course — the arrival of the Seafair Pirates.

Seafair Pirates Landing

Ahoy mateys, the Seafair Pirates are comin’ ashore at Alki Beach to try to collect the bounty they left behind last year! Don your best pirate attire and meet these scallywags as they arrive from the seven seas for the 69th Seafair.

 

Ranger-led Hike at Lewis Creek Park

Lewis Creek Visitor Center, Bellevue. FREE

Put on your walking shoes and join a park ranger for a short 1-mile hike to explore the natural and cultural history of Lewis Creek Park. Learn how to spot local wildlife and what to do when encountering animals in the wild. Great for all ages.

 

Family Story Time

Join the children’s librarian at Northgate Branch for a fun hour of stories, rhymes and songs, then stick around afterward for a social playtime with other families. All ages welcome!

 

African Beats Workshop

Greenwood Branch of SPL

Learn basic West African rhythms from the teaching artists of Gansango African Music and Dance Company. As part of this year’s Summer of Learning program which encourages reading and activities around science, technology, technology, arts and math, you’ll get to use hands-on drums, bells, shakers, and clapping.

 

Bicycle Sunday

Lake Washington Blvd. FREE

Bike, scoot, jump, run or walk the four-mile stretch of Lake Washington Boulevard between Mount Baker Beach and Seward Park. With the road closed to motorized traffic, this is a great way to spend your Sundays through September.

 

Northwest Newbies Nature Hike
Sun, July 8 1-3 p.m.
IslandWood on Bainbridge

Hop a ferry to Bainbridge, then take a guided hike through IslandWood and learn the names of the “Fab Five” native trees and common bird species. Plus discover new sounds, textures and smells of your Northwest home. $5, free ages 3 and younger. Pre-register online.
