There are still openings at the first LGBTQ Family Camp to be held at Seattle YMCA's Camp Orkila on Orcas Island.
Camp will be held Oct. 26-28, and the deadline to register is Oct. 11.
LGBTQ Family Camp is a great opportunity for your family to enjoy some outdoor fun together while also connecting with other LGBTQ families and allies.
Activities will include group games, kayaking, arts and crafts, archery, beach walks and marine exploration, a challenge course, 1000-foot zipline and giant swing.
Meals are served family-style in the lodge, and traditional campfires will be held in the evenings. Accommodations are in cabins.
A driving force behind the event is Christopher Peguero, who combines his expertise in outdoor education with his passion for social equity.
He has worked for the YMCA in several capacities and serves on the Seattle Y’s Camping and Outdoor Leadership board. He also has taught environmental education at Camp Orkila.
