The Great Train Show comes to Puyallup this weekend.

 

MLK March

Hiawatha Community Center. FREE

March from Rainier Community Center to MLK Park to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King. Put on in cooperation with the Seattle Police Department and Late-Night Programs, this event features inspirational guest speakers, focused group sessions, and plenty of food for all. Duck Draw
Sat, Jan 19 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Green Lake Library. FREE

Meet at the Green Lake Library, then take a short bird walk to observe the ducks living in and around Green Lake. Then return to the library for a lesson on sketching ducks. Drawing materials are provided, although you are welcome to bring your own. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited; RSVP.

 

Adventures of Reading Magic Show

Theater 4 Seattle Center. FREE

Magician Raymond combines stage magic and illusions with tales of magic and mystery to inspire reading. Watch as favorite children’s books spring to life tickling the sense of imagination, humor and wonder that all children have. Be sure to stick around and learn a fun magic trick after the show.

 

Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.

Interested in introducing your kids to theater? Featuring performers from Broadway Bound Children’s Theatre, this lovely story is a great opportunity. Set in the little village of Anatevka, join Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his five daughters as they navigate life on a farm. Show runs various dates and times through Jan. 26. Great for ages 4 and older. $15-$20.

Wallingford Branch of Seattle Public Library. FREE

Perfect for kids who love to create. Come to the Wallingford Branch of the Seattle Public Library for an afternoon of sewing cute felt creatures. Great for ages 11 and up. All materials provided.

Are there engine fanatics in your family? Head to the Western Washington Fairgrounds this weekend and see amazing displays of trains, accessories, scale models and collectible toys. Be sure to explore the kids' activities and special exhibits, too. $10-$11, free ages 11 and younger.
