Maker Day: Building Board Games
10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat, Jan. 26 

MOHAI

Head to the MOHAI this Saturday and create your board game elements with local game design studio Forrest-Pruzan Creative.  You’ll get to dive into the design, prototyping, and testing process behind what makes a good game great. Event included with admission; free ages 14 and younger with an adult.

 

Tot Treks: Winter Wonderland
10:30-11:45 a.m. Sat, Jan. 26 
Discovery Park Environmental Learning Center

Lace up those walking shoes and come hike through the woods at Discovery Park while using all of your senses to discover signs of winter. Great for kids ages 2 through 4 and their caregivers. $5. Pre-registration required (please register only the child for this program).

 

Celebrate Libraries rally

Seattle Central Library FREE

Do you love your library? Come show them at a public celebration this Saturday at the Central Library in downtown Seattle. Featuring American Library Association (ALA) President Loida Garcia-Febo and local and state representatives, this morning event will show how libraries are building strong communities. Enjoy refreshments and mingle with other Library patrons, trustees, library friends and library foundation members from Seattle and around the country. Rally will take place on Level 3 near the Fifth Avenue entrance.

 

Storytelling Festival

Vashon Wilderness Program is hosting the 12th Annual Storytelling Festival featuring nature-based stories – personal, mythic, and ancestral. All ages are welcome to participate! Bring a prepared 5-minute story and share the stage with VWP’s seasoned staff, spin a tale in the One-Minute Story-thon, join the fun, interactive group storytelling improv games, or simply come and listen. Arrive early to purchase snacks and sign up for a tellers’ spot.

 

ArtVenture: Wandering Lines
1-3 p.m. Sun, Jan. 27
Henry Art Gallery. FREE

Come to the Henry Art Gallery and discover new ways to make your mark. Explore the gallery and see how artists use lines to create spaces and shapes. Then use our tools to make your own lines of all sizes.

 

"The Light Princess"
2 & 7 p.m. Sat/Sun Jan 26/27
The Slate Theater, Seattle

It’s a new musical for young audiences! "The Light Princess" tells the story of a princess who is cursed to have no gravity, physical or emotional. Learn how she navigates her world with warmth, levity, and joy. Your family will love this bright and hopeful show. $15-$25, pay-what-you-can tickets are available. The play runs various times Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Feb. 10.
