Live Dive

Marine Science & Tech Center, Des Moines. FREE

Have you ever wondered what lies under the water of Puget Sound? Come to The Marine Science and Technology Center and listen and watch as an expert diver with two-way communication and an HD camera takes you along on their dive. MSTC is the marine laboratory and public aquarium of Highline College. It holds over 15 tanks totaling approximately 3,000 gallons of flow-through seawater, and displays over 250 native Puget Sound marine species.

 

"The Little Engine That Could"
Sat, Feb 9 11 .m. 
Kirkland Performance Center

Lose yourself in this classic tale about a broken-down engine who needs help to get her toys to the children on the other side of the mountain. Brought to life on stage by Storybook Theatre, kids 3-10 and their families will love this 55-minute show. Check the website for sensory-friendly performances. $12.

 

 

Watershed Story Time & Crafts
Sat, Feb 9 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Cedar River Watershed Education Center North Bend. FREE

Come listen to a naturalist read a story about fungi at the watershed, then choose a fun nature-related craft to do. Great for all ages and ADA accessible. Please register online. Storytimes run Saturdays through March 30.

 

Family Fun Night
Sat, Feb 9 6-8 p.m.
Magnolia Community Center

Who cares if it’s cold outside? You can get the whole family moving with a gym full of toys, tumbling mats
and more this Saturday at the Magnolia Community Center. And this week, don’t miss a rousing evening of Bingo as part of Family Fun Night! $5.

 

Ranger-led Hike 
Sun, Feb 10 10:30 a.m.-noon
Lakemont Community Park, Bellevue. FREE

Lace up your walking shoes and join a ranger for a fun hike through Lakemont Park in Bellevue. This 2-mile hike is moderately difficult, with 700 feet of elevation gain, and winds alongside a beautiful creek. Dress for the weather and bring water. No pre-registration or RSVP required.

Valentine’s Day Celebration

Woodland Park Zoo

Watch the Woodland Park Zoo otters, red pandas, snow leopards, gorillas and others get a little love this Saturday with heart-shaped ice pops made of fruit juice, honey, strawberries and cranberries, plus herbal bouquets, heart-shaped steaks and more animal favorites. Event included with admission. $14.95, $12.95 seniors, $9.95 ages 3 to 12, free ages 2 and younger.
