Hey there, families, and welcome to Erika’s Picks. For years, I’ve been looking for the best family-friendly events happening each weekend around the greater Seattle area. Whether you’re looking to explore a new park, attend a fun workshop, or catch a local performance, I’ve got you covered. Each week, I’ll share my handpicked activities that will keep the little ones entertained, engaged, and maybe even learning something new. So, grab your calendar, gather up your crew, and get ready for a fun-filled weekend! Let’s dive into Seattle family events for the weekend of June 26-28, 2026.
Slimy Slug Fest
- Date: Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Location: Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, Eatonville
- Cost: $20+
Get ready! The slimiest event in the Northwest is back at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park this weekend. You can celebrate the greenish‐yellow banana slug by participating in a human slug race, in which participants inch their way, much like their animal counterparts, along a soapy and slimy water track on their bellies. Waterproof slug costumes will be provided. Register 15 minutes before the races at the tent near the Picnic Pavilion. Guests can also make their own tentacle headbands, test their slug trivia, and earn stamps for a passport by participating in slug activities throughout the park. There is also a Slug Tots area where kids can play with play dough, bubbles, corn hole, and a digging pit. Make sure to stop by Cheney Discovery Center to see real slugs in action.
Seafair Pirate Landing
- Date: Saturday, June 27, from 1 to 5 p.m.
- Location: Alki Beach Bathhouse, West Seattle
- Cost: FREE
The Seafair Pirates are landing on Alki Beach again this summer! This event might be the highlight of the beach for your child, but know that the pirates are loud and boisterous. They will be firing cannons for a couple of hours in Elliot Bay and around West Seattle in the water before landing on Alki. The landing will happen just after 1 p.m. by the Bathhouse. Join the festivities beforehand and then stay to watch the Pirates entertain kids of all ages with treasures galore.

Free Summer Concert
- Date: Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, from 2 to 3 p.m.

Summer concerts in Seattle are the best! Head to the Ballard Locks this weekend and listen to the Kirkland Civic Orchestra on Saturday and the 85th Street Big Band on Sunday. Concerts are free, but donations are suggested, and 100% of donations go to help pay for volunteer performances, garden upkeep, and educational programs at the Locks. Be sure to BYO a blanket or low-back chairs, and a picnic for a truly enjoyable afternoon. Concerts are scheduled at the Locks weekends through Labor Day, so check out the schedule online.
