Hey there, families, and welcome to Erika’s Picks. For years, I’ve been looking for the best family-friendly events happening each weekend around the greater Seattle area. Whether you’re looking to explore a new park, attend a fun workshop, or catch a local performance, I’ve got you covered. Each week, I’ll share my handpicked activities that will keep the little ones entertained, engaged, and maybe even learning something new. So, grab your calendar, gather up your crew, and get ready for a fun-filled weekend! Let’s dive into Seattle family events for the weekend of Aug 22-23, 2026.

FamilyWorks Back to School Bash

  • Date: Saturday, Aug 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Location: FamilyWorks Family Resource Center
  • Cost: Free

Can you believe the start of school is just around the corner? Hit the ground running by joining FamilyWorks this Saturday for their fun Back-to-School Bash. They will be hosting a community resource fair with raffles, crafts, giveaways including backpacks filled with school supplies, and snacks to help families get ready for the new school year.

Bubble Maniacs

  • Date: Saturday, Aug 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Location: The Landing, Renton
  • Cost: Free

The most bubble-filled day of the summer is happening this Saturday at The Landing in Renton. Pop on over to the plaza across from Regal Cinemas and enjoy multiple bubble play stations, a giant foam zone, and a live DJ spinning family-friendly music. This event is great for all ages plus there will be a sensory-friendly hour from 10-11 a.m. Don’t forget to bring a towel.

Snoqualmie Days

  • Date: Saturday, Aug 22, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Location: Snoqualmie Depot
  • Cost: Free admission, but fees for some activities

Originally organized by volunteer firefighters to celebrate the arrival of the town’s first fire truck in 1939, Snoqualmie Days is back again for its 86th year. Come help celebrate the Snoqualmie Valley, its people,and its culture at a Fire Department pancake breakfast, then check out a model railroad show, watch Dan the LEGO Man build some great LEGO creations, watch a Grand Parade, and take a train ride. Don’t forget to join the games at the Encompass Kids Field of Fun in Railroad Park and, of course, sing and dance along to amazing live music on the main stage.

Festival Sundiata Presents Black Arts Fest

  • Date: Saturday, Aug 22, and Sunday, Aug 23 from 1 to 8 p.m.
  • Location: Seattle Center
  • Cost: Free

Seattle Center Festál presents Black Arts Fest this weekend in partnership with Sundiata African American Cultural Association (SAACA). Head to the Seattle Center to celebrate the arts and the people of African descent, who form a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities. This will be an entertainment-packed weekend featuring hip hop, dance, gospel, visual arts, soul food, exhibits, and a marketplace. Check out performances by Daughters of Royalty, NW Community Gospel Choir, Garfield High School Cheer, King Dre Trio, Double Dutch Divas, Morris Day and the Time, and many more. The event is free and open to everyone.

Seattle FlyDogs

  • Date: Saturday, Aug 22, from 2-4 p.m.
  • Location: Museum of Flight
  • Cost: Included with general admission and membership

The very popular Seattle FlyDogs are back for three high-flying performances at the Museum of Flight on Saturday. Dogs of all breeds catch air in these exciting displays of caped canine athletics. And in between the shows, you can enjoy a meet-and-greet with the furry athletes and their trainers. The event is free with museum membership or included with general admission. Performances will happen at 2 p.m., 2:45 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Please leave all pets at home. Only service animals are allowed in the Museum.
