We can’t think of anything more quintessentially Seattle than the Pike Place Market. This year, kick off the holiday season with the entire family at the 22nd annual Magic in the Market, where things are beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
The celebration starts at 11 am on Saturday, November 25 with complimentary pictures with Santa under the iconic clock.
From noon to 2 p.m., kids 12 and under can decorate cookies in the Atrium kitchen (1433 First Avenue), and all day long, local farmers and merchants will feature holiday beverages like hot chocolate and fresh cider for shoppers to sip while they peruse the market for seasonal foods and locally made gifts. We suggest picking out a wreath or a garland—even the perfect Christmas tree—from Growing Washington on Pike Place. There will also be live performances from local musicians to add to the spirit.
Make sure to stop by the Stocking and Stuffers event in the new MarketFront Pavilion, where craftspeople and artists will be selling specially made holiday stockings and small gifts and tokens to fill them with. Also happening in the Pavilion, kids will want to check out the live glassblowing demonstration by Market craftsperson Gina Karaba.
At 5 p.m., Santa will close the day’s festivities with a countdown to the lighting ceremony of the giant holiday tree and lights illuminating Pike Place for the season.
Parking is available in the Public Market Garage on 1531 Western Avenue and the MarketFront Parking Garage at 1901 Western Avenue for $4 per hour for up to four hours. The MarketFront Parking Garage even has direct elevator access to the MarketFront and Desimone Bridge entrance to the Market.
Happy Holidays!
