Amazing Animals at the Burke Museum Promises to Astound

The Burke has combined Bug Blast and Meet the Mammals into one fantastic day of learning and fun this Sunday.

Have you ever had Three Bee Salad? You read that right.

Get a taste of that and more at the Amazing Animals event at the Burke Museum on Sunday, November 12th. The Burke will combine two of their most popular events—Bug Blast and Meet the Mammals—into one fantastic day for animal lovers. Explore hundreds of specimens from their entomology and mammal collections. Learn about multi-legged creatures with interactive activities all day long. Enjoy cooking demonstrations from David George Gordon AKA the Bug Chef at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. See colorful butterflies that have been carefully preserved and talk to experts from the Washington Butterfly Association. Meet and pet animals and bugs including ponies, reptiles, and tarantulas. Check out mammal headgear including giant antlers and horns, animal-themed games, crafts, and face painting.

Make the day an adventure by taking the light rail, it stops at Husky Stadium and the Museum is about a 20-minute walk across campus. Take in the beautiful old brick buildings, Drumheller fountain, and plenty of giant trees. If you get lucky, it won't be raining and you can have a winter picnic on the way to the Burke.
