Your guide to a kid-friendly city

Bike the Viaduct Car Free

Time to kick your family bike ride up a notch! This weekend, skip the ride around the block or Greenlake and be a part of something bigger. On Sunday, April 8, families can bike the Viaduct car-free, before it’s demolished.

The Emerald City Ride will be a 12-mile loop route on the Alaskan Way Viaduct from SODO, across the Aurora Bridge and onto the I-5 Express Lanes—all without car traffic. When will that ever happen again? There will also be a more family and kid-friendly 3 mile Viaduct Experience on just the Viaduct portion of the route from SODO to Belltown and back.

This once in a lifetime experience is a bucket-list chance for kids to ride on this Seattle icon that probably won't be around much longer—or when they are grown up.

Join more than 7,000 other bicyclists and tour the city seeing spectacular sights and views. The ride starts and ends at the Pyramid Alehouse, and all riders must register with the Cascade Bicycle Club.

Full Ride (12 miles):
