Hey there families, and welcome to Erikaā€™s Picks. For years, Iā€™ve been on the lookout for the best kid-friendly events happening each weekend around the greater Seattle area. Whether youā€™re looking to explore a new park, attend a fun workshop, or catch a local performance, Iā€™ve got you covered. Each week, Iā€™ll share my handpicked activities that are sure to keep the little ones entertained, engaged, and maybe even learning something new along the way. So, grab your calendar, gather up your crew, and get ready for a weekend full of fun!Ā Letā€™s dive into the picks for this weekend, February 8 and 9, 2025.Ā Ā 

Anime Washington

  • Saturday February 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday February 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Washington State Fair Events Center
  • Friday & Sunday: $24 adult, $12 child | Saturday: $32 adult, $16 child

Anime Washington is a new fan convention that will celebrate Asian pop culture, anime, manga, music, movies, video games, and more. Guests will get to meet their favorite celebrity voices from anime shows, movies, and video games. Plus there will be hundreds of vendors, artists, and exhibitors to explore. You can stop in at one of the gaming zones to play games, including consoles, pinball machines, and arcades. And there will be three full days of panels, programming, and cosplay opportunities.

Chinese Garden New Year Festival

  • Saturday February 8,Ā  11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Seattle Chinese Garden
  • Free

Head to the Seattle Chinese Garden on Saturday to celebrate the Year of the Snake. It will be a full afternoon of Chinese music, games, kids’ crafts, and demonstrations. Plus youā€™ll have the chance to explore this beautiful garden. Admission is free, but a $6 donation per person is welcome.

“Peter and the Wolf” Childrenā€™s Concert

  • Saturday February 8 at 3 p.m.
  • Edmonds Center for the Arts
  • $15 for adults, $5 for youth | Tickets here

Donā€™t miss Edmonds Center for the Artsā€™ delightful rendition of “Peter and the Wolf” this Saturday. Kids ages 3-10 will be introduced to the Cascade Brass Quintet at this childrenā€™s concert while they become familiar with composer Sergei Prokofievā€™s beautiful music. David Dolacky will narrate the classic story for the show.

Puyallup Flat Track Racing

  • Saturday 4 to 10 p.m.
  • WA State Fairgrounds, Puyallup
  • $10, free for ages 6 years and under

Itā€™s fast, noisy, and fun. Come watch motorcycle and quad indoor flat track racing for all ages at the Washington State Fairgrounds in Puyallup this weekend. And if you are really inspired, there are even classes for beginners you can join.

Family Magic Show

  • Sunday, February 9 at 2 p.m.
  • Center Theater
  • $7.50 for general admission (check for the 2-for-1 deal) | Tickets here

Take the whole family to the Seattle Center on Sunday for a one-hour interactive magic show for all ages. For over 35 years Magician Raymond has honed his skill as a magical entertainer. His unique interactive magic blends illusions, mind reading, comedy and theater to fully engage his audience. Raymond has performed as a resident magician at a theme park and theater and toured doing school assembly shows. This amazing show is now featured at the Seattle Center on a monthly basis.
