Visit Washington's beautiful state parks for free! We’re talking more than 100 parks throughout Washington from the Columbia Gorge to Aberdeen and the majestic Olympics. The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission invites the public to celebrate Spring and Earth Day with two free days at state parks this month, April 15 and 22, when visitors don’t need a Discover Pass.
Skagit Valley Tulip Festival Sat/Sun April 15/16, Skagit Valley
This colorful, family-friendly annual event is back with attractions through April 30 at various locations throughout the Skagit Valley. Prices vary and many events are free. No pets in the fields. Download the festival map and brochure online and don’t forget to bring your camera! Prices vary.
Alki Breakfast and Egg Hunt Sat April 15, Alki Community Center. FREE
Kids ages 11 and younger can enjoy breakfast snacks from 9 a.m. followed by an awesome egg hunt that begins promptly at 10 a.m. Don’t forget to check out the other free egg hunts located throughout Seattle.
Morning Treats and Tweets Guided Bird Walk Sat April 15 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Seward Park Audubon Ctr
Join Naturalist Ed Dominguez for a casual birding experience aimed at beginning and intermediate birders. We’ll kick off the morning with hot tea or coffee and doughnuts, before venturing into the park where we will learn about the birds that call this area home. BYO binoculars or we will provide them. Be sure to dress for the weather. Great for ages 8 and older with an adult. $7.
International Children’s Friendship Festival Sat/Sun April 15/16 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Seattle Center Fisher Pavilion. FREE
It’s a wonderful weekend of dances, songs, musical performances, children’s forum, arts and crafts, and more, run by children’s groups representing dozens of countries at the Seattle Center.
Scenic Train Ride Sat April 15 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Snoqualmie Depot
Come explore more of the Museum’s collection when the train stops at the Train Shed exhibit building. With a call of “All aboard!” Northwest Railway Museum visitors can step back in time and experience rail travel as it used to be aboard historic railway cars. See schedule online. $20 to $24, $16 to $20 seniors, $10 to $12 ages 2 to 12, free ages 23 months and younger.
