She sure shears sheep sheer at the Spring Sheep Shearing…. If you haven’t been to Kelsey Creek Farm’s annual event, don’t waste any more time. This fun day includes tractor rides, pony rides, wool spinning demonstrations and, of course, sheep shearing. Admission is free, some activities have a fee, cash only.
Gustafer Yellowgold Sat Apr 29, 11 a.m. NW Film Forum
Award-winning illustrator/songwriter Morgan Taylor is back for one show at the NW Film Forum. His creation, Gustafer Yellowgold, is a creature who comes from the sun. Described as a cross between Yellow Submarine & Dr. Seuss, the show is a funny and touching multi-media concert of live songs, stories and animation and will feature material from the Grammy® nominated DVD/CD set "Gustafer Yellowgold's Dark Pie Concerns" along with plenty of fan favorites from his previous work.
Super Cool Underwater Blacklight Adventure Sat Apr 29/Sun Apr 30 , 1 & 3 p.m. NW Puppet Center
Spyglass Theater has created an incredible display of amazing special effects. Come join Dr. Nautilus on an exploration of the undersea ecosystem. Using blacklight puppetry, this entertaining and educational show is mesmerizing. $11, $9 seniors and children.
Street Scramble Alki Sun Apr 30, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Alki Beach Bathhouse
Street Scramble is kicking off the 2017 schedule with a splash! Enjoy a nice spring morning exploring the beach community of Alki and take in great views from the hills above. The goal is to find as many checkpoints as you can before the time runs out! Registration is at 8:30, maps are handed out at 9:30, the race starts at 10. $19 to $30, $9 to $20 ages 13 to 21 and adults on a team with at least one child age 12 or younger; $3 ages 6 to 12, free ages 5 and younger.
Healthy Kids Day Sat April 29, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. University YMCA
Believe it or not, summer is coming, so it’s time to get out and get active. The YMCA is hosting this fun day full of activities that wake up the body and mind. It’s their national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids. 10 of the greater Seattle YMCA locations will be offering free family-friendly activities, events and prizes, like bike helmets, STEM stops, firetruck exploration and more, so get out there and get moving!
