Seafair Fleet Week Ship Tours, Thurs-Sat Aug 4-6, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Sun Aug 7 1-3:30 p.m. Don your closed-toe, flat-heeled shoes and take a free tour of amazing working ships from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and Canadian Maritime Forces during their visit to our Emerald City. Seattle Youth Empowerment Day, Sat Aug 6. 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Youth ages 12 to 21 can learn about issues affecting other youth their age at this conference with local nonprofit leaders. Bring your best brainstorming mindset and discover how youth can make an impact in their communities. $10. Scholarships available – if needed, submit online form before registering. Pre-register. Free Skateboarding Lessons, Seattle Center SkatePark & Ballard Commons SkatePark, Sat 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. FREE  Skate Like a Girl is helping kids ages 12 and younger learn how to skateboard with help teen volunteers. BYO board or borrow one there. Some helmets, pads and skateboards also available to borrow during the lesson. Space is limited and classes fill on a first come, first served basis. SalmonFest, Fri, Aug 5 12 – 7 p.m., Sat Aug 6 11 a.m. – 7 p.m, Sun Aug 7 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Lake City Community Center. The Count of Monte Cristo, Sat Aug 6, 7 p.m. Bathhouse Theater, Greenlake. FREE Young actors with Seattle Public Theater’s Youth Program present Alexandre Dumas’ classic tale of romance, revenge and rapiers this weekend only. Edward Dantes must use wit, skill and charm in this swashbuckling adventure in order to best his enemies. FREE, donations welcomed. The Count of Monte Cristo.

 

Backyard Bard: Pericles, Sun Aug 7 4:30 p.m. Delridge Playfield. FREE Shakespeare’s Pericles is brought to life by Greenstage this weekend. Join him on an epic journey of marriage, shipwrecks, rewards, adventure and more shipwrecks as he seeks his way to a happy ending.
