The Great Wallingford Wurst Festival Fri Sept 15, 4 p.m.-12 a.m., Sat Sept 16, 10 a.m.-12 a.m. St. Benedict School. FREE

The best wurst in town is back. Head to Wallingford for a weekend of yummy food, bouncy houses, old-fashioned carnival games, craft vendors, a book sale, two entertainment stages and more.

 

Whidbey Island Kite Festival Sat Sept 16, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Sept 17, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Camp Casey Conference Center. FREE

It might be a little further afield, but it’s worth the trip. Let’s go fly a kite this weekend on Whidbey! Featuring colorful and impressive kite flying displays, kids' kite making, beginning sportkite lessons, and a teddy bear drop (ages 9 and younger, 1 p.m.).

 

Festival of Fruit Sat Sept 16, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Carkeek Park. FREE

Crisp Fall air + crunchy leaves = apple harvesting. Join the fun at Carkeek Park this weekend and savor live music, cider pressing, an apple pie contest, tours of the orchard, kids’ activities and lots more.

 

Salmon SEEson in Issaquah Sat Sept 16, 11 a.m. Issaquah Salmon Hatchery. FREE

See salmon swim back to Issaquah Creek on Saturday. View spawning from the bridge or through viewing windows and talk with trained docents from the Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery (FISH). Drop-in tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, September 15 through November 12. 

 

Autumn Guided Walk and Crafting Sat Sept 16, 2 p.m. Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center. FREE

Join a guided walk through the Mercer Slough on Saturday and learn about fall foliage then stay for a fun crafting activity indoors. Pre-register. 

 

Fall Restoration Day in Volunteer Park Sun Sept 17, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Volunteer Park. FREE

BYO Family and volunteer at Volunteer Park this Sunday to help get the garden ready for winter.  No gardening experience necessary. Tasks will include weeding and cleaning garden beds. Gloves and tools (coffee and donuts) will be provided. Come for all or part and help keep Volunteer Park beautiful.
