Winterfest, Spirit of Kwanzaa Day, carriage rides, and more this weekend!

 

Santa’s Landing Party Sat Dec 16, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Museum of Flight

Enjoy fun, family activities as you await Santa’s arrival via airplane at 9:45.  Live music by Boeing Concert Orchestra, Boeing Band and special guest Caspar Babypants. Outdoor activities are free, indoor activities included with admission. $21, $18 seniors and active military, $13 ages 5 to 17, free ages 4 and younger.

 

Seattle Center Winterfest Sat Dec 16, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Seattle Center. FREE

There is so much to do at the Seattle Center this time of year: Ice skate in the Fisher Pavilion (through Jan 2), admire the Winter Train and Village (10 a.m. to 6 p.m daily closes 4 p.m. on Dec. 24, and closed Dec. 25), and enjoy the multitude of live performances on the Seattle Center Stage. See website for schedule. Most activities free, small fee for ice skating rental. 

 

Spirit of Kwanzaa Day Sat Dec 16, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Powell Barnett Park. FREE

Enjoy a day of dancing, drumming, art and community. Come experience the seven principles of Kwanzaa in the Spirit of Kwanzaa Day at Powell Barnett Park.

 

Horse Drawn Carriage Rides Sat Dec 16, 1-5 p.m. FREE

Snow, or no snow, come dash all the way through Occidental Square in free horse-drawn carriage rides. Then stay to try free crafting activities, listen to carolers, savor hot cocoa and write your own letter to Santa.

 

Garden d’Lights at the Bellevue Botanical Garden Sat Dec 16, 4:30-9 p.m. Bellevue Botanical Garden

Dress for the weather and come stroll a winter garden with more than 500,000 mini-lights in three-dimensional plant and critter shapes. No pets, please. Free parking available at Wilburton Hill Park. Premium parking and a limited number of free disabled parking spots are available for visitors with limited mobility at the Botanical Garden. 4:30 to 9 p.m. daily through Dec. 31. $5, free ages 10 and younger, tickets available online (pre-purchase recommended).

 

Lion, Witch, Wardrobe Sat Dec 16, 2 p.m. Stone Soup’s Youth Conservatory 

During WWII, four children were sent to live with another family member and where they discovered a magical wardrobe. Come watch Stone Soup's Fall Youth Conservatory bring the classic tale The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe to life this weekend only.  7 p.m. Dec. 14-15 and 2 p.m. Dec. 16. $7.50
