Skating, improv, holiday science and more this weekend!

 

Skating Rink at Redmond Town Center Sat/Sun Dec 23/24, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Redmond Town Center

BYO skates or borrow them there and enjoy whizzing around the indoor, synthetic rink. Part of the Redmond Town Center Winter Wonderland celebrations. Closed Dec 25 but open thru Jan 1. $7.

 

Christmas Ship Music Sat Dec 23, 2:45 p.m. Waverly Beach Park FREE

Bundle up and get outside to hear the Dickens Carolers carol aboard the Argosy Christmas Ships. These decorated vessels will be at Waverly Beach Park at 2:45 p.m. and Houghton Beach at 3:50 p.m. Full schedule can be found online.

 

A(n Improvised) Christmas Carol Sat Dec 23, 8:30 p.m. Market Theater

It’s Charles Dickens' Christmas classic onstage with a twist. The audience provides the suggestions and improvisers from Unexpected Productions use those prompts to tell the tale. The show is great for all ages and runs various dates and times through Dec. 24. $12 to $15.

 

‘Tis the Season for Science Sun Dec 24/25, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Pacific Science Center

Explore the Canadian Rockies and the Rocky Mt. Express, listen to a winter-themed story time, create holiday pop-up cards in Tinker Tank, check out liquid nitrogen up close in the Super Cold Live Science stage show, build your own igloo, watch the iguanas and naked mole rats get festive treats, then warm up in the Tropical Butterfly House. Included with admission. $21.95, $19.95 seniors, $15.95 ages 6 to 15, $11.95 ages 3 to 5, free ages 2 and younger.

 

Cinderella – A British Panto Sun Dec 24, 4 & 7:30 p.m. Hale’s Palladium

Come meet Rumpelstiltskin and his evil wife, Hortensia in The Fremont Players’ new fairy tale, told in the British Panto tradition. Things have gone haywire in the kingdom. Will Rapunzel escape from her tower? Can Arugula spin straw into gold? Will donkey, Butterbibb, keep working at the mill? Come cheer the heroes and boo the villains! Show runs weekends through Jan 15. $15, $7 seniors and ages 12 and younger.

 

Christmas Eve Skate Sun Dec 24, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Highland Ice Arena

Brush up on the Salchow and get ready to Shoot the Duck, Highland Ice Arena is open for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! BYO skates or rent them there ($4). $7.50, $6.50 ages 6 to 12, free ages 5 and younger.
