Magnolia Summerfest

Head to Magnolia this Saturday for a fun Seattle summer weekend. Enjoy food trucks and a beer garden, a kid’s parade at 10 a.m. followed by the main parade, live entertainment, clever crafts, and more. Admission is free, bring money for incidentals.

 

Fossil Hunters

Northgate Branch of Seattle Public Libraries

Help the Burke Museum sort and classify fossils this Saturday at the Northgate branch of the Seattle Public Library. Learn how scientists find and study fossils, examine expeditions and see how fossils are used to tell us about the living things of the past. Become a citizen scientist and examine sediment to find microfossils that Burke scientists will use in their research. For all ages. 

 

Science Dome Children’s Show 

Sat., Aug. 3
2 to 3 p.m.
Pierce College Science Dome

This Saturday explore the theme "A Walk on the Moon." Kids ages 3 to 8 can explore our nearest neighbor as they pretend to take off with the Apollo 11 crew of 1969. Once on the moon, young explorers can get out of their seats and walk on the lunar surface. Held every Saturday at 12:30 and 2 p.m. $6 per child, free for accompanying adults.

 

Seattle Center Movies at the Mural 

Sat., Aug. 3

BYO blanket or low-back chair and head to the Seattle Center to watch "Crazy Rich Asians" (PG-13, 2 hours) on a state-of-the-art 40-foot screen, beginning at 9 p.m. this Saturday. Seating at Movies at the Mural is first-come, first-served, so arrive early and bring along a picnic or purchase dinner from a selection of Seattle Center Armory food merchants. Large bags, large coolers/ice chests, umbrellas and video and audio recorders and pets are not allowed.

 

Laser Stranger Things

Sat., Aug. 3

It’s taken the country by storm. Now you can return to Hawkins, Indiana with the Season 3 update of the popular show "Laser Stranger Things." Experience the 80s pop songs, power ballads, and dark, synth-based score that's familiar to all three seasons of "Stranger Things," paired with brilliant laser imagery. Plus there will be a very special one-night-only "Score-Only" version of the show at midnight. $14.

 

Terrain Race

Sun., Aug. 4

Evergreen Speedway

Come crawl through mud, up ropes, and over walls and monkey bars in a fun, physical challenge at the Evergreen Speedway this Sunday. Race options for children ages 2 to 10, 7 and older, and 14 and older. $40.

 

Summer Meltdown Festival 

Sat. and Sun., Aug 3-4
Darrington Bluegrass Music Park

Dance the days away at this annual music festival in Darrington. Enjoy music from more than 40 bands on three stages, a killer kids’ area with bubbles, face-painting, dress-up, workshops and more, fantastic food and crazy craft vendors. Meltdown Kids Area is tucked into the shady forest campground edge near Family Camp. See website for what to/not to bring. $45+. Free ages 8 and younger.
