Bird Focus – Woodpeckers

Saturday, August 10, 8 to 10 a.m.

Each month Lead Naturalist Ed Dominguez showcases the intricacies of a specific group of birds. This month learn all about the magnificent woodpecker. Binoculars provided. Ages 8 and older. $5. Pre-register.

Mutt Strut

Saturday, August 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. FREE.

BYO favorite four-legged friend to Everett for the popular Mutt Strut, one of Snohomish County's largest dog events. Enjoy a day of dog demonstrations, contests, kids' activities, refreshments and vendors. Check the website for the latest schedule of events.

The Fabulous Fable Factory

Saturday, August 10,  6 to 7 p.m. FREE.

Come watch the story of an inquisitive youngster who discovers an old factory operated by Mr. Aesop and an assembly line of fable makers. Theater Schmeater's tradition of bringing free family-friendly shows to Seattle parks continues as Aesop's best-known fables including "The Ant and the Grasshopper," "The Lion and the Mouse," "The Tortoise and the Hare" and others come to life in this rousing adventure.

Community Fun Skate

Sunday, August 11,  2 to 5 p.m. FREE.

Do you love skating? Or have you always wanted to learn? Come to Magnuson Community Center and have a fun night on the rink with family and friends. Hosted by PFM Roller Derby, this event is free, however, donations are welcomed. Loaner skates available in all sizes (children younger than 18 need parent permission).

Summer Concerts in City Park

Sunday, August 11, 3 to 4 p.m. FREE.

Edmonds Arts Commission presents a summer of free concerts Sunday afternoons in City Park. Head there this weekend to see Gasango West African Music & Dance, an incredible traditional and contemporary group.

Wars Outdoors: The Empire Strikes Back in the Park

Sunday, August 11, 5 p.m.  FREE.

BYO blanket and chairs and (non-alcoholic) refreshments for the sequel to last year’s popular Hello Earth's Wars Outdoors 'Empire Strikes Back in the Park’ performance. Come see Han struggle with commitment, explore Luke's domestic drama, and find out how Lando will keep his business interests solvent. Hot dogs available to purchase at every performance. The show runs weekends through Aug. 25.
