Mochi Tsuki Festival

Sat, Jan 4 11 a.m -3 p.m. Woodward Middle School Bainbridge. FREE

Come watch mochi makers pound sticky rice into the popular, sweet treat. Then stick around and see Taiko drumming performances and the Passing of the Mallet Ceremony, plus try your hand at making mochi, origami, completing a stamp card and more!

 

Legally Blonde The Musical Jr

Sat, Jan 4 7 p.m. The Burien Annex. $12

Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, "Legally Blonde The Musical JR." is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. Full of recognizable songs, this show will be a hit with the whole family.

 

Skagit Eagle Festival

Sat/Sun, Jan 4/5. Concrete. FREE

Head to the scenic Skagit Valley to see the Eagle Festival this month. Happening every full weekend in January, you can learn all about eagles, plus watch a raptor show ($) or take a wildlife hayride (free). Check the website for scheduled activities. Admission is free; small fee for some activities.

 

Roger Fernandes: Native Storyteller

Sun, Jan 5 1:30 p.m. Greenwood Branch of Seattle Public Library. FREE

Bring the whole family to hear storyteller, tribal historian, educator and member of Lower Elwha Band of the S’Klallam Indians, Roger Fernandes weave tales and legends at the Greenwood Library this Sunday.

 

Juanita Bay Park Interpretive Tour

Sun, Jan 5 1 p.m. Juanita Bay Park. FREE

Songbirds, waterfowl, raptors, shorebirds, amphibians, turtles, beavers, and other small mammals make Juanita Bay Park their home. Join an interpretive tour led by Eastside Audubon's volunteer park rangers on the first Sunday of each month. Tours start in the parking lot at 1 p.m., rain or shine, and take about one hour. BYO binoculars or borrow some there. Great for kids ages 6 and older and their adult.

 

Worst Day of the Year Run

Sat, Jan 4 9 a.m. McMenamins Anderson School, Bothell. $34 to $49, $10 ages 12 and younger.

It’s the day of the year least likely to have great weather, so it’s the perfect day to get outside. Costumes encouraged at this fun, fun run! 9 a.m. registration, 10 a.m. 5K, 10:15 a.m. 10K. Space is limited, pre-registration encouraged and includes: A Tree Planted in Your Name, Custom Mega-Medal, Indoor After-Party with fire pits and homemade soup and rolls.
