Maker Day: Kite Creators

MOHAI (Museum of History and Industry), Seattle

Build your own kite just in time for summer with help from the American Kitefliers Association. The AKA is the largest kite club in the world. Learn about their mission to promote kite flying around the world. Event included with admission. $19.95, $15.95 seniors, $13.95 military and students, free ages 14 and younger accompanying an adult chaperone (max. 5 youth per adult).

 

High Flying Hawks
Sat, June 30 2:30-3:30 p.m.
Lewis Creek Visitor Center. FREE

Head to Lewis Creek Park in Bellevue for an afternoon learning about these amazing raptors. Hawks can be found in almost any type of environment. Learn about the different species that call Lewis Creek Park home then go for a short hike to look for them. Great for children ages 5 to 10 with accompanying adult(s).

 

Sunday Public Sail
Sun, July 1 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The Center for Wooden Boats. FREE

Take a fun and free 45-minute ride on Lake Union on a beautiful, classic boat.  Sign up for a slot in person at the Center for Wooden Boats. First come, first served. Space is limited.

 

Special Olympics Opening Ceremony

Husky Stadium

Six days of competition and special events will kick off this Sunday at the Special Olympics Opening Ceremony. This national event test the abilities of athletes with intellectual disabilities while celebrating the positive impact of a more inclusive world for all. Performers include Charlie Puth, Marshmello, Allen Stone, Ann Wilson of Heart, Massive Monkees and more. Actor-singer Taye Diggs will emcee. Doors open at 11 a.m. $20 general admission, $65 reserved seating. 

 

Hora de cuentos (Spanish Story Time)

Beacon Hill Branch of SPL. FREE

Enjoy an afternoon with Spanish stories and games at the Beacon Hill Branch of the Seattle Public Library. No registration required.

 

Free Yoga on the Lawn

Cascade Playground. FREE

BYO mat or borrow one at Cascade Playground for a late morning session of yoga with Ripple Yoga. This relaxing practice, stretching and strengthening, is a great way to start your Saturday. All people and abilities welcome.
