Northwest Paddling Festival
Saturday and Sunday
Sunset Beach at Lake Sammamish State Park

Curious about all the vessels you see on our lakes and waterways? Come and try out activities like Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and kayaking ($7). Then stay and watch races and kayak polo, visit with vendors and tour groups, and more. Kids can try aqua paddlers and build a toy boat to take home. 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Parking $10 or free with Discover Pass. 

 

Backyard Wildlife Festival
10 a.m. -3 p.m. Saturday, Tukwila Community Center. FREE

Join outdoor specialists and try some hands-on arts and crafts, listen to gardening experts, pick up garden starts, see raptors in action, and listen to fun music by Pickled Okra. Kids will love the fun kid’s area, too.

 

Family Viking Day
10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nordic Museum

Kids of all ages will love interacting with Viking re-enactors this Saturday. Come check out rare Viking artifacts in the Nordic Journeys exhibition then try and create your own Viking crafts. The event is great for all ages and included with admission. $15, $12 seniors, $10 students and youth, free ages 4 and younger. 

 

Seattle Maritime Festival – Family Fun Day
11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 12 FREE

Head to Seattle Maritime Academy just east of the Ballard Bridge for a day celebrating Seattle’s maritime industry. Take a ship tour, learn how to abandon ship (!!), try your hand at welding, fire an emergency flare or enter a survival-suit race. Kids’ activities, food trucks, live music and more.

 

Mothers Ride Train Free
11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sunday; Snoqualmie Train Depot

Mom will love this scenic train excursion through the Cascade foothills. Bring the whole family and journey to the top of Snoqualmie Falls for a beautiful view of the valley below. Moms ride free for Mother’s Day when accompanied by a paying child – of any age. $10-$20

 

Mother’s Day at the Garden
11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Bellevue Botanical Garden. FREE

Lace up your walking shoes and bring your camera for a leisurely stroll through the lovely Bellevue Botanical Garden. Live music and light refreshments provided on Mother’s Day. Donations accepted.
