Vashon Sheepdog Classic, Thurs June 9 – Sun June 12. Misty Island Farms, Vashon Island, It's the dog days of summer, at least it is at Misty Isle Farms. Hop a ferry for a fun day of herding trials, craft demos, fiber arts and more. FREE for kids 10 and younger. Shuttles available from ferry on June 11/12. $10/day or $25/4 day pass. Furry 5K, Sun June 12, 10 a.m. Seward Park. Time to get in some training with your favorite four-legged friend for a good cause. Bring your dog and their leash and join the pack for a fun, 5K run or walk. Proceeds benefit the Seattle Animal Shelter. 8:15 a.m. check-in. $25-35. Furry 5K.
Evergreen Mountain Bike Festival, Sat June 11, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Duthie Hill Park. FREE. It's all bikes, all day at Duthie Hill Park. Come test top brand bikes, watch bike demos, take part in kid's bike events, try out bike jumps or some of the six miles of cross-country bike trails the park has to offer. Beginners to advanced riders welcome. Entrance is free, clinics are $10 Evergreen members or $20. Kids 14 and younger are free. Evergreen Mountain Bike Festival.
Pond Dip, Sat June 11, 2-3 p.m. Lewis Creek Park Visitor Center. FREE. Ever wondered what lives in our local ponds? Kids 5 and older with their adult can use dip nets and water scopes to discover what's under the surface. Supplies provided. Pond Dip.
Park in the Dark Night Hike, Sat June 11, 8:30 – 10 p.m. Washington Park Arboretum Graham Visitors Center. When the people and cars are gone for the night, the nocturnal creatures come out to hunt and play. Kids 5-12 with their families can join a guide for a fun night hike and learn how animals adapt to the dark. $8. Pre-register. Park in the Dark Night Hike.
ArtVenture, Sun June 12, 1-3:30 p.m. Henry Art Gallery. FREE It's all about light and shadows this weekend. Come explore the James Wellings photographs and James Turrell's Light Reigns exhibit and then try to capture light in your hands to make your own piece of art. Event included with admission.
