Dino Days, Sound Off! Finals, a kids' sewing class, and more this weekend!

 

Dino Days Sat/Sun Mar 3/4, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Burke Museum

The ever-popular Dino Days is back and better than ever. Come see hundreds of exciting dinosaur fossils and other prehistoric creatures from the Burke's collection! Become a Junior Paleontologist, talk to real paleontologists, watch them prepare a real T. Rex skull, make a fossil imprint, and learn about groundbreaking research from around the world.  $10, $8 seniors, $7.50 students/ages 5 to 18, free ages 4 and younger. Timed tickets may be purchased in advance.

 

Restoration at Me-Kwa-Mooks Park Sat Mar 3, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Me-Kwa-Mooks Park. FREE

Me-Kwa-Mooks Park is a hidden gem in West Seattle that faces Puget Sound. Help preserve this amazing spot by working to clear it of invasive plant species that threaten its native plants and habitat. Dress for the weather and be prepared to walk off trail on sloped terrain. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Gloves will be provided, but please bring lunch/snack and pre-register.

 

Weekend Family Workshops at Future of Flight Aviation Sat/Sun Mar 3/4, 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Future of Flight Aviation Center

Join a fun Weekend Family Workshop in the Flightline Room (adjacent to the Gallery). These workshops are aviation themed and 90-minutes long. Participants will enjoy an aviation story and then take part in a make-and-take project. Supplies and event included with admission. $12, $6 ages 15 and younger, students, free ages 4 and younger. 

 

Try Sewing! Make a Pillow Sat Mar 3, 1-2:30 p.m. Richmond Beach Library

Graphic designer and sewing enthusiast Agnes is leading the charge this weekend. Come learn how to create a pattern, select fabrics and match colors. Participants will learn some foundation skills of sewing by hand and with a sewing machine and make a personalized pillow to take home. All materials provided. Recommended for ages 7 to 11. Pre-register.

 

Sound Off! Youth Band Competition Sat Mar 3, 8 p.m. MoPOP

The Sound Off! Finals are here. Head to MoPOP this Saturday and cheer for your favorite bands or solo artists selected from the semifinals and a wild card choice. The winner of Sound Off! will get to perform at Seattle’s own Bumbershoot this summer! $14, $9 ages 5 to 17, $5 TeenTix pass holders. Doors open at 7 p.m., show begins at 8 p.m. 

 

Making Tracks in Lewis Creek Park Sun Mar 4, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Lewis Creek Park. FREE

Join a park ranger for a fun walk through Lewis Creek Park. You’ll learn Bellevue’s animal signs, then take part in a scavenger hunt to see what animals have been wandering through the park! Kids can look for prints, feathers and even scat for clues. Best for children ages 5 to 10 with an accompanying adult. Pre-register by 4 p.m. March 2 at 425-452-4195.
