Exciting Transformation at Pacific Science Center: Crews Break Ground on Wellbody Exhibit

It's the final stretch. Years of big dreaming, planning, community collaboration and thoughtful and meticulous designing have come down to this: Crews have broken ground on Pacific Science Center's first new permanent exhibition in more than a decade, Professor Wellbody's Academy of Health & Wellness.

Opening Dec. 1, this ambitious 7,000 square foot exhibit demonstrates how personal choices can positively affect our health and well-being with the incorporation of new media, hands-on inventions, gadgets activities and experiences that will present health as a life-long process of balancing exercise, diet, proper rest and hygiene.

The development of the exhibit's concept and content is the result of several years of extensive research, planning, and imagination, including significant volunteer input from community leaders and nationally-recognized experts in health care.

Early on, Pacific Science Center assembled an advisory panel of health care experts from across the region including representatives from the University of Washington, Seattle Children's Research Institute, Group Health Cooperative, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians and Public Health – Seattle & King County.
