Free screening of 'Angst,' documentary about kids and anxiety, Tuesday in Seattle

Pacific Science Center is hosting a free screening of the documentary "Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety," on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Teens, tweens and their parents are invited to come see the movie and talk about it.

The film features teens and parents sharing deeply personal stories about the impact of anxiety on their own lives and tips and advice from prominent experts. Michael Phelps, Olympic champion swimmer and mental-health advocate, also appears. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health challenge in the U.S., but experts are trying to raise awareness and hope because anxiety is often very successfully treated.

Afterward, "Angst" producer Scilla Andreen of Seattle, and Dr. Cora Breuner, adolescent medicine doctor at Seattle Children’s (and an expert featured in the film) will discuss it and answer questions.

The screening begins at 7 p.m. in the  PACCAR Theater at the Pacific Science Center, 200 Second Avenue North. The film runs an hour, and the discussion afterward is scheduled to run 45 minutes.

People planning to attend are asked to reserve tickets on the center's website.
