You may already have experienced a Trimpin at Seattle Children’s PlayGarden’s musical fence, or at the self-playing EMP guitars, or while passing by a strange musical contraption in Sea-Tac’s Concourse A. Seattle-based, German-born musical composer Trimpin brings his genius to a new installation at SAM’s Olympic Sculpture Park entitled “You Are Hear.” Three sets of giant, orange metal headphones are spaced along a concrete wall, each poised above a matching orange tractor seat. Visitors take a seat and listen to the sounds piped through the headphones. Which is purposeful? Which is ambient? Which is noise?
