Jerry Large: Kids’ health a winner for Wilkens

Wilkens is particularly focused on good health as an underlying base for achievement in education and other arenas.

“You ever try to teach a sick kid?” he asked. “You have to be healthy to learn.”

That’s why the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic in Seattle has come to be central in his giving. The Foundation gave the clinic $130,000 last year, and over the past 19 years the Wilkens family has raised or donated $2.5 million to the clinic through the foundation, according to foundation President Brigid Graham.
