Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at Central Library; Cartoons at Central Cinema

Since there's no shame in showing kids one too many episodes of Curious George every once in a while, it’s a PBS kids morning around here. After a full week it's time to catch up on work, email and laundry.

If taking it easy today is making everyone stir crazy, plan on an early dinner and navigate rush hour to Central Library, where legendary basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar reads from his new young adult novel “Stealing the Game”The free 7 p.m. event will probably be packed, so get there early to hear the NBA star read from the second installment in the “Streetball Crew” series, which aims to build self-esteem in teens, who also fall in love and debate zombies.

Also tonight, Central Cinema is showing cartoons on the big screen. The free weekly event includes food and drink specials and gets going at 5:30 p.m.
