Last Week for Friends of Youth “Give Warmth Coat Drive”

The cold weather is here, but many youth and families in the community are without warm clothing for the upcoming months. The Friends of Youth “Give Warmth Coat Drive” will wrap up Saturday, Jan. 22, and donations are being accepted at Carolann Joy Salon in Redmond and Caffe Ladro in Bellevue.

Friends of Youth, which operates the only overnight youth shelter on the Eastside, helps young people in challenging circumstances with a wide range of services. The new and gently-used coats from this drive will be distributed free of cost to homeless youth and families in transitional living facilities and foster homes. Other types of outerwear are accepted as well, including sweaters, jackets, blankets, hats and gloves.

Carolann Joy Salon is offering a 5 percent discount to anyone who donates an item to the drive. For more information about Friends of Youth and the coat drive, visit https://www.friendsofyouth.org/ or call 425-869-6490.
