New swimming lesson option for Eastside families: Goldfish Swim School opening in Redmond

Eastside families are getting a new option for swimming lessons and recreational swimming with the planned August opening of Goldfish Swim School, a privately owned facility in Redmond.

The 8,500-square-foot tropical-theme swim center is located in Redmond Town Center at 7330 164th Avenue N.E., Suite E105. It offers classes for kids ages 4 months to 12 years old, of all skill levels.

It promises indoor, year-round swim instruction with small class sizes (maximum of four kids to one instructor) 90-degree water and high-tech water purification system.

Goldfish Swim School is a Michigan-based company with franchises in 89 locations, with dozens more on the way across the United States and Canada. The Redmond location is its first in the Seattle area. The local owners are Joette and J.J. Dalton, parents of two young children.

"We understand how important water safety is to all families," they said in materials announcing the opening. "Our team wants to ensure that children have a safe, fun, and friendly place to learn this life-saving skill.”

In addition to swim lessons, Goldfish also offers family swims and party packages. The tropical-themed facility has an air-conditioned viewing gallery, private family changing facilities and showers, a snack bar and retail shop.
